Is True Love For The Brave?

Yesterday I was able to watch that local movie "My Amnesia Girl" with some friends on DVD. I'm not very fond of watching movies, or tv shows. I'd rather read books, magazines, or lately blogs. But for the lazy afternoon yesterday, I randomly joined my friends, to watch the said movie. It was very funny, oh well, I find it funny. Maybe the shallow side of me did. Hehe. There was this line in the movie that caught my attention. "Ang true love para sa matatapang na tao lang". So in the middle of the movie, my mind kinda wandered and I contemplated, is true love really for the brave one? Why is that? Then here is my point of view to that, and the reason for blogging it to share it with you. :-) I'm not a life coach, but let me just vent out on this one. :-)

I had committed many mistakes on 'loving' in the past, and is committing mistakes at present and most likely in the future. But it was on those mistakes that I gained strength and got the better of me. Yes, the heartbreaks were seemingly unbearable that I often found myself saying, I won't let anybody hurt me this way again. But some things are bound to happen.. again. It takes a brave heart to love again despite the heartaches that goes with it. People loved and got hurt and loved again, a cycle that only brave people are willing to go through. To love is to allow yourself to be vulnerable to pain, disappointments and heartaches. But it is also a wonderful chance to bravely let yourself to be loved and taken cared of.

I guess for the brave people out there,  spread the love.... :-)

To Beautify...

I've been swamped with good-read blogs lately. I was greatly entertained and hooked of those that had pictures in it. Light bulb pop up saying, why not beautify my blog with pictures of vivid, hypnotizing colors and hues? Then reality bites me, how can it be? First, I don't own any camera at this moment. My old but reliable canon ixus (which is by the way my very first cam) was graciously handed down to my niece Roxanne, which they fondly use. You know how girls nowadays update pictures in FB. Second, I have zero knowledge of photography, in any manner! Aperture, depth of field, lens, shutter are all jargons to me. Let me enumerate the human anatomy (o yeah, as if I can still remember those nerves and blood vessels! :-p) rather than the parts of camera. Third, I myself considered to have not given an artistic side, I'm just plain black and white. Oopps, except for some combinations of clothes, bag and shoes. That pretty ends my 'art' knowledge.

But what about beautifying this blog?

So I tweeted my good friend @iDatgirl. She's into photography right now. So nice to have talented and artistic friends. They come in handy when you needed some enlightenment. Thanks girl!

So, expect more colors to this blog soon, naaahh maybe not too soon. :-( Got to find first that perfect camera that fits to my super tight budget. Unless, someone would like to lend me his/her camera, or better buy one for me. Donors are very much welcome at this time! Hehe.

Zero for Patient Care

Before year 2010 ends, the two kids of the family that I'm with had severe bouts of vomiting, the day after the 25th. You could just imagine how stressful that was for us, after the three joyful days (23-25), here came the heartbreaking sight of seeing our 2 year old babylove, exhausted from more than 10 bouts of vomiting. Tired and sleepy as we were, we decided to bring the child to Chinese General Hospital (yes, I will name it here for you folks to be cautious). We opted to bring babylove there because first, it was on our way home, and second it's the hospital where the pediatrician of these kids is affiliated. It was my first try of that hospital and we arrived at around 3PM in the ER. We were directed to 'screening' or triage section. Just from there, it took them more than half an hour to accomodate us! Mind you it was just the triage. But we patiently waited. The patient before us (newborn) was sent home when the mother was rudely asked by the nurse if she can pay because just their IV alone costs 1,000 pesos and the poor mother couldn't afford. First count of zero patient care by the nurse. She could at least say it in a nice way and not rubbed it in that they were poor and unworthy of their medical service. And so we went the usual temperature, weight measurement and were sent inside the ER to pedia section. The sight of their ER alone would make anyone sick even how well one is. Gosh! But not minding the disorganized ER, hoping that the doctors were good, we let go the not so good facilities. In the ER, we were asked to sit infront of a table where the pedia residents were checking up their patients. All the nitty gritty process of ER I very well know, but I remained to be an obedient company of my patient. The intern asked what happened, and so I told the history. So she scribbled something in her chart and I was expecting for her to ask more vital information such as maternal history, birth history, vaccination history, allergies and all (doctors and medical practioners you all know this), but the intern didn't ask any. I then expected at least the resident would ask, but didn't as well. Instead we were asked to let our kid lie down in the Er bed and get a room. We followed and got a room. When I went back to the ER, I saw the nurse inserting IV already and I was told that blood was extracted at the antecubital area. I was like, why in the antecubital area? Our patient is just 2 years old? Isn't it more humane to just exract blood by pricking one of the fingers? Oh well, at that moment I didn't complain yet, out of consideration that maybe the residents were too busy to order it properly to the medtech. And so we were there, for good three hours, IV inserted already, blood extracted and yet the residents said we can't go yet to the room because she had to endorse it to the floor residents. I asked why? I know we can go to our room, let the child comfortably rest while residents can endorse each other. So nakulitan sila sakin, and we were sent to the room. Then, I was told that there was an additional order and the child had to be extracted again! I just bit my tongue and didn't complain because I knew I wont be saying nice things if I did. Here's another highlight, the wheelchair where the child was, passed to the street (yes outside the hospital!) across the parking area before we entered the building where our room was. How was that? Hello sunshine and cars and smoke first? This rant can go on and on as I didn't see any patient care from the medical staff of that hospital. From the consultant to the residents down to the nurses, they checked our dear patient without even introducing themselves out of courtesy, not even explaining to us their actioned plans. It's not that we were asking a VIP regard, we were just hoping to at least feel a compassion from them, like any other patients. This blog will take up so many pages if I'm gonna tell it one by one, all the horrible things we experienced in that hospital. And yes, on our second day in the hospital, I introduced myself as a doctor, explained to them that I was very well aware of the things they were doing,  as much as the things they didn't do, and expressed to them clearly that I wasn't satisfied of their service. All of a sudden, a good care were given to us. Yet, it was too late, we asked for a HAMA (home without medical advice) and transferred our dear patient to a decent hospital along Ortigas, wherein we were taken cared of so well.

To all medical staff who may have read this blog, I absolutely understand your plight, as I one have worked in a hospital. But no matter how tired and busy we are, patient care should NEVER be forgotten, for after all, these people that we are dealing with, are in the first place not comfortable due to their illnesses, families are anxious and worried already for their sick loved ones. Our part would be to alleivate at least of their discomfort. So please, let us take care of our patients with compassion. It will matter a lot.

Hello 2011

Okay, this is a delayed blog of my New Year's eve. But I still would like to share how my 'unusual' NYE went. I spent my NYE in the hospital, because unfortunately both our babyloves were hospitalized for Acute gastroenteritis. It's very important for mothers and yayas to make sure kids are eating well-prepared food, for it's very heart breaking to see your kids being pricked and being dextrosed. Oh speaking of hospitalization, I will be blogging about the disappointing experience we had in one of the hospitals in Metro Manila. Going back to my topic, our fiRst day of 2011 was spent in the hospital. Good thing it was a very nice hospital. Our room was overlooking to an elite subdivision, and splendid fireworks were just in our view, minus the air and noise pollution! It wasn't bad after all. After the fireworks, we went back to sleep. No party, no celebration, just a quiet, so ordinary, yet contented NYE.

Note: obViously i cant compose my thoughts on this one. I'm obviously tired and have not yet recovered. :-/ so gonna blog after I have rested. :-)

A Blog From Ipad

Yes, the title of this blog just goes that way, as straight forward as it can be. I have to document this day when I received my iPad 32 GB 3GS because I want to reminisce in the future Godwilling, how technology went at this time. I know this will be obselete in few years time, and i wonder what brilliant gadgets will be coming out in the future? It would be an improved, more 'high-tech' toy I reckon. There will be an iPad with videeocamera coming out very soon, I know. But for now, I am very well contented of my iPad. I waited for more than two weeks for it to arrive. It was bought in the US and the person who hand carried it arrived just today, two weeks after it was bought. Oh the agony of waiting, arrrg! I'm absolutely very bad when it comes to waiting, but I was forced to. Nevertheless, when it arrived I was definitely ecstatic! The smell of a new gadget, soooo addicting! So here I am, swiping, playing, tweeting, blogging using my iPad, and so far so good. Together with my macbook pro and iphone 4, Thanks be to God for these and for the love of my Uncle Chuck. :-))

Friends Through Time

I'm blessed with good people around me, and I thank God for them. In this blog, I would like to talk about my friends for almost a decade now- the dubbing girls!  Oh how time flies! It seemed like it was just yesterday that we giddily talked and laughed each time we got the chance to be together. I remember  so vividly how all of you took care of me. I was such a babe then, but you never let me feel I was a burden, instead each one of you unselfishly did something to be there for me. I wont forget those times during PBK that you reserved water for me to bathe. For those who know how scarce water is during PSD and PBK, you'll understand how convenient it will be if somebody will fetch a water for you. The bed that you prepared for me was the best at that time. The food that we shared were the yummiest food, even how simple those meals were, because you prepared it with love. Oh well, I'm being mushy and teary-eyed now, but it is true. It's with you girls whom I genuinely felt what truest friends are. Our friendship began in random, we have nothing in common but our faith and fondness of simplicity of things. The friendship that we have is not withered by season & time. Even how long we haven't been talking, when we see each other, we picked up where we left right away, no gap created over time,... just a strong bond of friendship. It was with you that I felt  no matter what I do, at my worst self, you remain my friends. And you never fail to make me smile, even for such silly things, and brightened even the most gloomy days. There are so many things you've done to me not mentioned here, but everything has been kept in my heart. I am always thankful that I found a friendship with you. You all taught me how to be simple and contented, how to treat a friend and over time to remain a great friend.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for everything. and I love you all!

It was with great regret that we never got the chance to be together as often as we would like. I miss you so badly.

Should Have Been, Could Have Been

In my rare quiet time of the day, ignited by the cold air of 'ber' months bespeaking that 2010 is soon to be over and another year is about to start, I've been contemplating of the years that have past, of the life that I've had. Full of should've been and could've been looking back.  How time flies in a snap. I will be turning 30 years old in few months from now, and have I done significant so far? As Uncle Chuck put it, "success is measured not by fame and fortune but by the difference you make in the life of others, and the joy you get in your work that spells the difference". Did I ever make someone else life any good? Have I been of any help at all? Or devastatingly have I been an omen to the people I'm with? Sigh. Heavy topics to probe on! At this point in my life,  I've been wishing, if only I did something better,  then I should have done something else and could have made someone's life better. :-( Though there's no use of crying over spilled milk so to speak, I am  with great regret  in my heart to those times in my past, when I was not at all any good, and had made bad choices in life. Along the way, in one way or the other, I know I've hurt the people I was with. Some of them I lost contact already, but hopefully through this blog, it could reach them, that from the bottom of my heart I was sorry. I am sorry for those times that I was selfish and self centered, for opting to do the things that consequently hurt you, for letting go of things that I should have hold on to, and for saying things that I should have kept to myself. I hope time had healed to the many wounds I've caused. I could never be perfect through out my lifetime, but I wish to do much better most of the time from now on. That's a goal.

I know it is never too late. Life is full of hope. God is ubiquitously giving us good opportunities to make our lives much better, serves its very purpose. Mistakes are just around the corner, but with God's help I'll try to be better. The coming 3rd decade of my life, hopefully would be a fruitful one, with His help.

P. S. I dream to be able to help those abused and abandoned children. Hopefully, there will be an orphanage of that sort, that I could work with...
